Hybrid Engineer

Amptek is looking for a strong Hybrid Manufacturing Engineer to work in our Bedford, MA facility.  Candidate must be a self-starter and able to work in an aggressive, fast-paced, and flexible environment.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Director of Manufacturing

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot complex hybrid circuits, using a multidisciplinary approach - this will involve broad engineering expertise; including mechanical, electrical, systems, and process design

  • Investigate and effectively resolve critical production issues

  • Maintain the hybrid manufacturing equipment such as wire bonders, welders etc.

  • Interface with customer and supplier quality and engineering contacts

  • Participate on Root Cause / Corrective Action teams to address critical quality, design, and process issues

  • Compile and evaluate test data, prepare technical analysis, develop and release manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products/processes

  • Able to work collaboratively with technicians

  • Support component level, sub-system and system level sourcing and testing for performance, reliability and durability

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 5 – 10 Hybrid electronics manufacturing experience required with hybrid assembly processes such as die mounting, wire bonding, and hermetic sealing is required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology is required. Additional Training & Certifications in manufacturing related operations are a plus

  • Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-883

  • Direct experience with the design and fabrication of fixtures and tooling using CAD software (AutoCAD inventor preferred but not required)

  • Direct experience with planning assembly operations and writing shop floor Routings and work instructions

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to internal customers

  • Prior experience with soldering, welding, and other electro-mechanical assembly operations

  • Ability to design and set-up electrical and mechanical test fixtures for testing

  • Ability to read and design electrical schematics

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in MEMs or Semiconductor clean room environment

  • Experience with the selection and validation of equipment for the manufacture and test of hybrid assemblies

IT Administrator

Amptek is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic engineer that can apply their quality toolbox to accurately identify issues, determine appropriate corrective action and effectively execute solutions.  This position is located in our Bedford, MA office.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Business Unit Controller

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages assigned servers, workstations, and other components including rollout, installation, configuration, and maintenance

  • Resolves problems reported for local and wide area networks, personal computers, and networking equipment (switches, routers, etc.)

  • Provides answers to complex, high-level IT support issues

  • Monitors and measures the performance of the network; reports problems to the appropriate individuals

  • Researches, plans, and oversees assigned server, network and telephone system replacements and upgrades

  • Maintains documentation of all hardware and software under areas of responsibility

  • Establishes and maintains contact with vendors for support and problem resolution

  • Assists in creating end-user IT systems documentation and assists in the end-user orientation and training

  • Supports training and enforcement of Ametek IT policies and procedures

  • Designing and managing LANs/WANs: switches, routers, VLANs, wireless networks, etc.

  • Managing servers, workstations, and printers Analytical thinking and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, plus 3-5 years related experience, with an MSCE and CNE certification are preferred

  • Shuttle between two Ametek business units in Chelmsford and Bedford on weekly basis. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

  •  Demonstrated experience working with computer technologies including: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Sub-netting and Routing, RAID, VLANs, HTTP(s), Wi-Fi (WPA, Radius, etc.), LDAP, etc.

  • Experience with IT security in environments with various levels of restriction

  • Experience training and supporting Help Desk Technicians and Applications support personnel when available or providing such support in their absence

  • Strong time management and excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience leading IT related project rollouts Experience with virtualization is preferred

  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple information systems is required, under intense time pressure day coverage to our users

Cost Accountant

The successful candidate will be under the direct supervision of the Controller.  The Cost Accountant will maintain a high level of analytical insight into manufacturing, operational expenses, product pricing, and business unit profitability.  This individual will be responsible for Financial Closing, Financial Reporting, Financial Analysis, and Cost Accounting.  This position is located in our Bedford, MA office.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply principles of manufacturing cost accounting to provide detailed cost information including standard cost, variance analysis, labor distribution, direct labor & absorption, and inventory analysis
  • Update and manage standard costs in ERP system
  • Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Responsible for business unit material cost analysis (includes reporting, scrap, reserves, and other elements of material cost)
  • Analyze performance and cost trends
  • Maintain budget vs cost data
  • Record financial adjustments resulting from annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts
  • Support and validate cost improvement initiatives
  • Compile complex reports using Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel
  • Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/SOX and provide support in external and internal audits
  • Assist in preparation of monthly standard reporting package
  • Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • Handle workload in a timely and accurate manner
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • Five years in related accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency with office productivity applications (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe)
  • Experience with integrated ERP software and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to details
  • Work requires effective oral and written communications skills

Quality Engineer

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the implementation of process improvement changes

  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes

  • Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence

  • Maintains statistical process controls

  • Working with Engineering and Production personnel, develops experiments and sampling plans and oversees completion

  • Analyzes quality data and prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations

  • Maintains and controls test sets and procedures

  • Oversees the processing of qualification lots

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • BS Technical Field

  • 5-8 years’ as a quality engineer in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of current Quality techniques and methodologies

  • Hands on experience in building and maintaining process control systems

  • A record of quality improvement

  • Quality tools include mean time before failure, process modeling, and tests

  • Oversees the development of assembly and test fixtures and methods.  Writes procedures in assigned areas as necessary

  • Ideal industry experience: electromechanical or semiconductor or hybrid a plus
