Depending on your company's capability in both hardware and software for XRF systems, there are several choices for detectors and electronics.
Options 1 and 2 below are fairly easy to implement. Options 3, 4, 5, and 6 are listed in increasing difficulty to implement, and are recommended for XRF experts in the field who can provide both hardware and software engineering support.
Amptek provides several choices for detectors. All Amptek detecotrs (Si-PIN, SDD, or CdTe) can be used in the below configurations. See Detector Selection Guide. The 6mm2/500um, 13mm2/500um and 25mm2/500um detectors are excellent choices for RoHS/WEEE applications.
Amptek also provides optional XRF-FP Quantitative Analysis software.
Follow the flow chart below for the various options. Each Option is then described in detail below.

The X-123 and X-123SDD are the best complete systems for OEM applications for fast entry to the market. The unit is completely packaged and only requires a +5VDC power supply and a USB or RS232 connection to a computer. The X-123 represents the culmination of 14 years of X-ray detector development at Amptek. Our philosophy has always been to create small, low power, high performance instruments while keeping them simple to operate. The X-123 exemplifies this philosophy by providing in a single package the XR100 X-Ray Detector and Charge Sensitive Preamplifier, and the DP4 Digital Pulse Processor & MCA with its PC4-3 Power Supply.

The XR-100CR or XR-100SDD paired with the PX4 is the most powerful and versatile system for high end table-top XRF analyzers. This is physically the largest configuration, but offers the best performance. Both the XR100CR and the PX4 are fully packaged with standard connectors.

The XR-100CR or XR-100SDD with the DP4 and PC4-3 is an option that requires some assembly and possibly a custom enclosure depending on the application on the part of the customer.

The AXR/PA210/DP4/PC4-3 as shown in Figures 4, 5, and 7 below is equivalent to the X-123 without any enclosures and packaging. The customer needs to assemble the system and provide custom heat-sinking for the AXR detector and custom enclosures for the AXR/PA210 and for the DP4/PC4-3 in order to avoid electronic interference.

The XR100 box alone is for experts in the field. It consists of only the detector (Si-PIN, SDD, or CdTe) and preamplifier. The customer needs to provide several external power supplies, a shaping amplifier and MCA, or a digital processor, and communication with the host computer.

The AXR/PA210 or AXR/PA-230 alone, is for experts in the field. The customer needs to provide custom heat-sinking for the AXR detector (Si-PIN, SDD, or CdTe) and a custom enclosure for the AXR/PA210 or AXR/PA210. Additionally, the customer needs to provide several external power supplies, a shaping amplifier and MCA, or digital processor, and communication with the host computer.

This option is the same as the X-123 except the detector/preamplifier have been removed from the electronics box and connected with a flexible cable. Provided in order to operate the detector remotely from its electronics box. Any Amptek detector can be used including Si-PIN, SDD, or CdTe.

The XR-100 series of detectors (Si-PIN, SDD, or CdTe) can be miniaturized for applications where the detector/preamplifier volume must be kept to a minimum. Amptek can create custom preamplifiers to meet the design requirements of the OEM.
